Best of the old, best of the new has been one of those phrases that keeps coming to mind when I select music for services
in the church where I play keyboard/piano. I worry sometimes that the beauty, majesty and grandeur of some of the old hymn
tunes is under appreciated and being forgotten and pushed to one side in favour of newer, more contemporary music. A balance
is what is needed and this recording is an attempt to redress that balance, so Don and I have purposely selected traditional
hymn tunes that have been arranged using traditional, classical instruments. The arrangements themselves are a mix of grandiose,
meditative and somewhere in between! We hope this selection will be of benefit to you and help you to build up your spiritual
life. This CD is called "Fanfares of Praise", in other words it is an attempt (a human one at that) to bring glory and honour
to our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. A Further volume may well push the boundaries of tradition and instrumentation in an
effort to maintain that healthy balance! - Rich Horton
